  18. Diana Vreeland was celebrated in the charming movie musical
  19. Funny Face. But his budding association with New Yorker queen
  20. Tina Brown may not turn out so cheerfully. At least not for
  21. those stodgy readers who regard the inclusion of photos in the
  22. magazine with the same degree of distaste most people reserve
  23. for fake leather. RICHARD AVEDON, the fabled photographer who
  24. has shot everyone from Brooke Shields to Alger Hiss, has joined
  25. the New Yorker as the magazine's first-ever staff lensman. Brown
  26. promises that Avedon's pictures "will provide an explosion of
  27. excitement."
